slices of Oscar Meyer Bacon
chunks of ham from a spiral cut ham (Costco Kirkland
brand) where the slices stop, as much as you want

oz bag of frozen chopped onions, thawed
5
cans Trappy’s black eyed peas,
3
cans Swanson natural goodness chicken broth
1
can Del Monte petite cut tomatoes with jalapeños
½
small can of Old El Paso diced green chilies

tsp oregano
½- 1
tsp black pepper
½
tsp salt
½
rounded tsp minced garlic from a jar (2 cloves)
In
large soup pot cook bacon cut up in 1 inch pieces on
medium to medium high heat.
Once
brown, add onions and reduce heat to medium, let onions
sauté until starting to look translucent.
Add
chicken broth and remaining ingredients, bring to boil
then reduce heat to simmer for 20-30 minutes. This soup
is better the 2nd day when the flavors have
had time to mesh. It should freeze well.
